New York, NY: January 25, 2017 – On January 25, 2017, the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls will hold a Symposium: Real Women, Real Voices – Where People Meet the Policy. The format will be a panel discussion with formerly incarcerated women and family members of incarcerated loved ones at New York University Law School.
Washington, DC: November 7, 2016 – The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls is honored to announce that our Founder, Andrea James has been selected, with Glenn Martin of Just Leadership, to receive the 2016 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award in Washington DC on November 17th. The award recognizes Andrea’s visionary and path-breaking leadership to end the incarceration of women and girls. Washington, DC: April 19, 2016 – On Friday, April 22, 2016, the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls will officially launch the path-breaking organization at a press conference at the National Press Club. The press conference will introduce the organizing strategies and goals of the Council. The Council is the first-ever national organization created and led by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and girls.
