Join us at the AZIZ Gallerie in Leimert Park Village, a mecca for Black art and culture in Los Angeles, for an empowering gathering that uplifts the voices of women and girls impacted by incarceration.
This event will feature a stunning photography exhibit showcasing unforgettable moments from The National Council’s 10th Anniversary FreeHer March and Rally 2024 in Washington, D.C. Through the powerful lenses of photographers Devin Allen, Kisha Bari, Johnny Perez, Malik King, and others, experience the resilience of women and communities standing up for justice and freedom.
As part of the evening, we will host an interactive screening of “COMMUTED,” a profoundly moving documentary following Danielle Metz, whose triple life sentence was commuted after 23 years in prison. The film intimately explores her journey home to New Orleans and the challenges of rebuilding her life after incarceration.
This is more than an event—it’s a call to action. In a time when women and girls—especially Black and Brown women—are disproportionately harmed by the criminal legal system, we must come together as a community to demand abolition and reimagine justice.
Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.
