Our primary theory of change is base-building. Over the past 10 years, we have worked on operationalizing our goal of ending the incarceration of women and girls. In the U.S., on any given day, there are approximately 250,000+ women in jails or prisons. We know we can end the incarceration of women and girls. To get us there, we have created a base-building theory of change that includes hyper-local organizing, political education, educational initiatives, business-building programs, leadership training, and our national FreeHer campaign. By equipping women with the tools to lead, advocate, and build sustainable futures, we are creating a powerful movement to dismantle systems of incarceration and replace them with systems of care and opportunity.
